Woodshop Layout Planner

About

About Woodshop Layout Planner

Woodshop Layout Planner is a small, independent project with one goal: make it quick to plan a woodshop to scale without learning CAD. It started from a simple observation — since the old Flash-based shop planners disappeared in 2021, woodworkers keep asking in forums for something to replace them.

The planner is free and runs entirely in your browser. There are no accounts and no tracking, and your layouts are not uploaded anywhere.

How we work

How the machine sizes are chosen

Each machine in the catalog uses a typical footprint for its class, based on published specifications of several common models from different manufacturers, rounded to the inch. Working zones follow practical rules of thumb, for example the length of an 8 ft board in front of and behind a table saw blade. They are starting points, not standards, and every value can be changed in the planner.

The catalog is brand-neutral. We are not affiliated with any tool manufacturer.
